I grew up in a farmhouse with wood heat only. I have some street cred.
I started splitting wood as soon as my father thought I could lift a maul (I really couldn't... I was always small). But, it taught me to be able to swing. I am not a big guy (pretty sure I'd get lost in Steve's shadow...), but I will put my splitting prowess up against anyone, anywhere.
Forget who said it was good for the soul, but they weren't wrong. Good honest work right there.
