Sponsor deals in other endurance sports like biathlon/xcskiing
Quote | Reply
It has been a lot of discussions about money in triathlon.
We can easily calculate prize money. But other deals are harder to get information about.

Johannes Klæbo (xc-skiing) and Johannes Bø (biathlon) have both sign a 5 year deal with an energy company.
They will both get NOK 5m every year for 5 years, 25m all together.
In USD we are talking about 600k per year.

The athletes can have other sponsors also.

You see this in Europe because in Norway, both of those athletes, I'm guessing are household names.

This is NOT the case with ANY endurance sports athletes in North America in running, cycling and triathlon. It's extraordinarily rare for a North American Endurance Sports athlete to have a significant sponsor who is away from the sport, or non-endemic - a car company, a bank, and insurance company etc . . .Main reason - outside of the sport, that athlete has zero profile, and that sport, is off the radar screen.
