Pee on the bike ride?
Yuck, it's weird even asking this, but here goes: Do you pee in your shorts / on your bike seat on the bike ride in longer races? I feel like I've seen tons of posts on reddit etc talking about how it's the way to go (pun intended!).

I get it in the swim: the water's cold, the water moving through your wetsuit anyway will rinse you off (in theory), and you're going to have wet shorts anyway.

But on the bike?? How long can it take to wobble on my heels to the nearest port-a-potty?

I have always opted to stop and use a port-a-potty.
a) I'm not fast enough that stopping is going to break my race
b) I don't even want to think about where the liquid is all going to go. What if it hits my water bottle cap?!
c) I doubt I could relax enough on the bike anyway.

Yes.

I use a water bottle from the aid station to rinse off and keep going.

Not something I practice before I race, but 60+ years of experience doing it in other positions pays off for something, I guess 😉🤣

Well, the answer is yes but its not pleasant !

Still laughing at the "not something I practice"... :)

Thanks all! This might be a race day decision depending on how far apart the port-a-potties are!

Yep, unless it's just a race I'm doing for fun. If I care about my result I'll pee on anything.

The 2 70.3s I did I pee'd on the bike and had no problems. Yep, squirting some water in the vicinity of your crotch is useful to reduce the potential for burning.

I successfully reversed decades of potty training and peed on my bike in my first half IM. Now, in spite of baking soda and washing, my bike shoes are still stinky. How do you fix this????

I would try Febreeze for pets to neutralize the odor. If that doesn’t work, then go to the local pet shop for enzymes to eliminate urine smell.

Leave the shoes out in sunshine to dry helps as well.

For my full I did. Just make sure no one is behind you when you do it. Like others have mentioned, I used a water bottle to rise off, and I changed shorts in T2 for the run.
