Anybody use adhesive frame protectors for their road/TT bike? I see a lot of brands marketed for mtn bikes, but was wondering if this could be useful in prevent small scuffs and dings on a road bike frame.

I use them where any cables might contact the frame, ie around the head tube and seat stay / top tube cluster.

Make sure the frame is really clean before you apply them, they’ll magnify any specks of dirt that are trapped underneath.

Haven't bought any, but several of my bikes came with the helicopter tape on the chainstay and where cables rub the head tube.

I have the custom RideWrap kits on both my mountain bikes and despite being time-consuming to apply they're great.

I don't have any on road or gravel bikes and am not rushing to get it, but I can see the utility.

Works great. Cheaper to buy in a bulk roll and cut to size. Google "helicopter tape" and you'll get served up a bunch of options.

Agree, I don't have it on my tri bike but I have a whole bunch of 3M automotive tape on my gravel bike, it's a bit less protective than some of the helicopter tape but perfect for protecting from cable rub or any highly vulnerable spots. Properly installed it's nearly invisible. Search for instructions to use the soapy water technique, don't install dry. Use a very sharp utility knife with a good straight edge for straight lines and very high quality scissors for curves. I had to trim off the factory edge to get a good install.

That's actually what I'm using (mostly) these days. I have a couple of rolls in various gauges, but the 3M stuff is a really happy medium.

I've taken to ceramic treating my frames, and combined with the 3M tape in strategic positions, I've been really happy with the results. Especially on the gravel bike.

It's pretty darn cool. Surface area of a bike frame is small enough that time spent is pretty minimal, and a single car kit will do a *lot* of bike frames.
