I’m not a triathlete anymore. I run fells/mountain races and rockclimb. I’d like to start throwing in a bit of rowing as low impact cross training. What’s a good 40minute session?

In either, case some people I know seem to latch on to massive meters. Like this one guy I sometimes do gym work with is going for a million meters.
That's fine, but I prefer a bit more intensity and interval work.
A good 40-minute session would be like warmup, then 2x2000m with 5 minutes easy between the 2Ks.
You can easily replace the 2x2K with 4x4K or 8x500m.

I guess - what’s the intent? High end/low end/threshold?
I used to have a love hate with 4*2500m r24 at 80% PE, 5 mins rest.

I jump on a rowing machine very infrequently but I've always liked the 500m/1:00r workout that comes standard on concept 2 monitors.
if you go on conept2s website they have a WOD with different durations and many options.
if you want some fun challenges where you can see how you stack up, search for Rowd Royalty competitions..they list their events and they can be quite painful
