Fitting all my crap on my xlab wing
Hey,
So I have the XLab rear wing with two gorilla cages. I got a mezzo bag which stores underneath it. But now my problem is on my seat post the Garmin mount for my very radar is covered by the bag. There's no way to move it up or down based on the design of the seat post of the P2. So my question is how do I make this work? Obviously I'm not worried about races more just training here.
Is there a way to mount the Garmin to the middle of the back of the XLab wing? Does that make sense? It seems if I go with the mini bag that I may be stretched to fit two tubes in there which I would much rather take on a training ride than just one.
Or is there another solution I'm not thinking of?

Had to do something similar on another bike for someone a while back. Not sure if the design is still the same but you can purchase an Xlab Sonic Nut that fits between the two cages and holds CO2 cartridges. Angle it how you want and use a Garmin mount with a smaller diameter and rubber shim ( for aerobar?) to mount it to the CO2 cartridge. I had the Garmin mount laying around, not sure what it was from.

Hey!

2lazy2tri has a good idea if you have the Sonic Wing.

I have seen athletes take the quarter turn mount and attached it to the back of the Carbon Wing/Super Wing.

The Carbon Wing unit had a piece of aluminum going along the back of the spine - screwed down and then they screwed the quarter turn onto the aluminum rod.

The Super Wing I believe was jerry-rigged with the quarter turn mount attached via O-rings I believe - can't recall 100% as this was a year or 2 ago.

Definitely won't be able to get 2 tubes in the mini bag, unless you have the Tubolitos - j/k we haven't tested those yet, but are itching to get our hands on a couple :). You could put one tube up between the saddle rails and then you could use the Mini Bag though.

I think I figured it out. I had a spare mount with all the pieces.

It is a little tilted down...I assume it will still work. I can't get out on the road for a couple days to try it.

I took it out to the road and it did pick up cars but not til they were pretty close but that could be bc I was on the grass and of course not moving. Thoughts?

The fit with the one shim to the back of the wing is almost as perfect as it could be.

I will try to find something a little more to shove on the inside to make it a little more snug although I think using that other shim is pretty good as is.

Oh good - and you have the Super Wing so you did the o-ring trick!

To be honest I am not too knowledgeable on the radar strength. It says 220 degrees and catches cars up to 153 yards away - my guess is because it is tilted down - the range would be reduced.

You almost need something at the bottom of the mount to bring it up parallel to the ground.

As you do have the Super Wing you could always nix the Mezzo Bag - and have a Mini Bag in between the cages with 1 tube and then wedge the other tube underneath your saddle.

The other option though you prob won't want to do this is bring the carrier up so it is not as angled.

Any ideas for the bottom? Layers of duct tape?

I hate tape lol, but that might be the cheapest option - or find a small rubber wedge at the hardware store - just have to make sure the bands don't unhook from the mount with the pressure.

I ordered the mini bag. Lol

Forgive my naiveness. How do I mount a tube under the seat?

Slip a spare tube in between the rails and tape it.
