58' Cervelo P5 Disc Travel

Does anyone have advice on how to travel with the Cervelo P5 Disc?

I would prefer to not use tribike transport.

I have been looking at hard shell cases, like the thule round trip transition bike case but I dont understand how the bike will fit because the handlebars are wider than the case. I tried to remove the handlebars to test if I could do it, but there is not enough slack in the brake tubes to fold the handlebars over the frame for travel.

Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.

Dan had an article on the front page recently for a hydro disconnect that would solve your handlebar issue. I'm too lazy to search it an link it though...

Are you sure that there isn’t enough slack in the brake cables?
If not the bike is not assembled correct.
On mine it os easy to remove the monopost and them lift off the handle bar, fold it to the side without any problem.

Good luck,

Yes, I thought it might be improperly assembly because the tube is not long enough. But if theres a way around removing the handlebars I prefer that.

"improperly assembled" is a far cry from "didn't leave an extra 5-10mm of hose when they cut it."

OP, there are a lot of solutions.

1) buy this: https://www.premierbike.com/...cts/bike-travel-case

2) buy this: https://www.evocusa.com/collections/frontpage/products/road-bike-travel-bag-eta-09-5-2019

3) buy this: (ask your LBS to order you the PX basebar)

4) have your LBS re-do the hydro hose but leave more slack (the handlebar can accommodate at least 1cm of "slack" in the hose IME)

Do you use that with a 58 P5D? I feel like I’ve read that somehow the BBA is complicated for that bike. I’m also a travel-curious 58cm P5D owner, so I’m very interested in this thread.

No, I don't think that is an understatement.
It is incorrect assembly, you would not have this happen to you the day before you travel and just to find out that is doesn't work.
And the PX bar doesn't fit the P5 disc!

Good point. Well, my other three solutions work fine.
