Is this a format that you're familiar with, or just one you'd like to find?
I've never heard of an off road duathlon format with both disciplines sharing the same route. Sounds like a bad idea if there's any chance of the fastest cyclists catching up with the slowest pedestrians.

 Like you said 'Just one you'd like to find'
Keeping the ride and run routes in view of each other
would engage the appreciation of the spectators
and the participants would realize their proximity
to their field.
Of course 'safety first '.

Strava segments? We're rollin' old school, no chip timing doing it the old fashioned way from back in the day.
The course is out and back on country roads, mostly gravel and a bit of pavement.

Here in Indiana we have a plethora of duathlons to choose from. We have some race directors that are kind enough to put on Du's with their Tri's.
