Can someone explain to me how you get the breaks open wide enough to fit a Zipp Super9 on a Giant Trinity. The only way I can get the disc to spin freely is to remove the break pads, which doesn't really work for stopping.

The super 9 may not be compatible with your frame based on the width. you may want to contact zipp and ask.
failing that however, unless the wheel touches the frame, there should not be a big issue, you can shave the brake pads down to get it to fit.

The bike/disc combo is definitely compatible. The rear brake is just a pain in the ass to adjust, I suspect, and I'm no mechanic.
