European Tri Training Camp Recommendations
Quote | Reply
Putting Covid restrictions aside for a moment, I would be interested in recommendations for a Tri training camp in Europe (to include Canary Islands). Anyone been to a top quality camp that they can recommend? Ideally it would be a camp that takes place sometime in March or early April. The obvious locals given the time parameters are the Canary Islands (Lanza, etc) and Mallorca, but I would certainly be open to other locations that are within easy travel distance of Europe.

Many thanks in advance. Jason

Location wise a good place for tri training is Las Playitas https://www.playitas.net/en on Fuerteventura (one of the Canary Islands). Olympic size pool, OWS in the Atlantic, good TT-bike training and running opportunities, big gym. E.g. the Swedish national tri team goes there often. But I'm not sure if you wish for a organized program with hands-on coaches?

Thanks for that and perhaps I should have been clearer. I am more interested in organized camp recommendations with coaching, etc. If it is a very good camp, I am willing to travel to wherever it takes place, provided it is in the greater Europe area.

Scientific Triathlon is putting on a camp in Mallorca, I believe. Sometime in April. It is there first so I obviously can't vouch, but I really like their website and podcasting. I'd go if I could!

Garteh and Fiona will cater a camp to your exact needs.
And it's a very nice area to bike.

Hi. This looks nice and I've not been to that area of Spain. Would it be warm enough to go there in March or early April? I am wondering if it still might be too cold and maybe the pool is not open yet.

Should definitely be warm enough to ride and run at will. You might need a wetsuit In their pool. But there’s a nice heated public pool nearby and the lake of Banyoles has seismic sources and hence never really cools down. Send them an e-mail. They are very helpful and knowledgeable.
