I'm assuming this guy is pretty successful and intelligent, if he has 2.5 million to throw around like that.
Ooof... My suspicion is that this perception of a tight-coupling between intelligence and "success" (correct me if I'm wrong, but when you say "success", you just mean he's rich, right?) is one that's probably pretty societally harmful... I can't think of a better/faster litmus test for competence off the top of my head, but when an idea's most devastating rebuttal (has there EVER been a better example of the the tenuous connection between competence and money than the current president of the US?) is closely tied to the lawsuit, it seems like a good time to shove that idea under a microscope for a closer examination. If we (as a society) hadn't been (sort of) "conditioned" to associate wealth with expertise, would Trump's gaudy imitation of business acumen have ever made it through the Republican primary? My best guess is that there's an alternative history where he's busy running another business into the ground, and there are ~150,000 more Americans alive right now, but... I'd definitely be interested in what you think.
