You will get a lot of recommendations, but my advice is to keep it simple. I have the below 'smart' trainer, and it is perfect for my needs. I ride with Zwift, and it works seamlessly with that on my ipad. I suggest putting a cadence meter on one crank as well, and then get a simple riser block for your front wheel. That's it!

I will say that it is rather heavy, but sounds like you won't be moving it around too much. I actually picked mine up slightly used for $200 so browse your local FB and craigslist.

I replaced a 33+ year old Blackburn Mag Turbo trackstand trainer in the last several weeks with a Tacx Flow. Like you, I believe in the KISS method. There might be a point where I upgrade, but after having a dumb trainer for so long, I needed to start somewhere.
