Japanese study on COVID and running
This article focuses on running, but it’s obviously relevant to triathlon races too. I think it shows what many here have already said, which is that racing is pretty safe. If there is a signifiant risk associated with triathlons, it’s the activities before and after the race (e.g. travel, restaurants, etc).

Japan - 98 total C19 cases per 100K; 2 total deaths from C19 per 100K.
U.S. - 3617 total C19 cases per 100K; 77 total deaths from C19 per 100K.

I'd love to do so, but I'm hesitant to apply this study to the U.S. at this point. Am I incorrect in being hesitant?

Congrats to the Japanese!

Not to be a pessimist, but that link is 3rd-hand reporting from a blog, and the original source does not appear to be a peer-reviewed study. I would caution drawing any conclusions from the results or generalizing to other regions or athletic events.
