Join us on Sunday, 11/29/2020, for an inspiring 11-mile-ish charity run through the City of Brotherly Love, starting at the famous Four Seasons Total Landscaping and finishing up at the lesser-known Four Seasons Hotel (neither institution is affiliated in any way with this nonsense)

The in-person run will be a masked, socially distant run starting at 9 a.m. Organizers said there are no fees, no awards, and no aid stations. Runners should bring their own water and nutrition.

Those looking to do the run virtually can run the course or an 11-mile-ish equivalent any time starting Nov. 29 or after.

While there are no fees, organizers are suggesting a $10 donation to Philabundance to help their hunger relief mission.

It never fails to astound me what many from the US appear to consider as humour - case in point this, which somehow fails to make fun of what was a hilarious situation.

I forgot to note the crux of the joke is the biscuit

We have a 10 mile road race here every year, which attracts 40K runners

The Fraud Street Run, a charity 11-miler that starts at Four Seasons Total Landscaping in Holmesburg and ends at the Four Seasons hotel in Center City, was born of the idea that Philly has a great sense of humor coupled with a desire to give back.

“We just wanted to turn something negative into something positive,” race founder Jeff Lyons told Billy Penn.

In its first five hours, the event raised more than $2,000 for hunger nonprofit Philabundance, and the pace continued to pick up. Before 24 hours had passed, nearly $8,000 had rolled in.

“The basic goal is to do something fun and positive and not be overly partisan — everyone’s welcome,” Lyons said. “We’re just doing our Philly thing.”

That's ~800 participants, folks

Buddy of mine who won the race in the early 90's, didn't realize he was about to win it until he looked up and the finish was right there! It was the joke at work the next day, because he wasn't paying attention (probably zoned out).

That Fraud Street run route is much more...well...let's say different.

When I first ran it - in 1989 - was the last year it finished with a loop around the track inside JFK Stadium

After that, they moved the finish line to someplace within FDR Park, by the Swedish History Museum [of all places], so all of a sudden, after running pretty much straight for 9-1/2 miles, now you had to turn right off Broad Street and start twisting & turning

I'm not sure when they moved it again, to where they have it now, in the Navy Yard

As of Thursday evening, between registrations & T-shirt sales, $20K has been raised for Philabundance

It went virtual almost immediately, so if you want in, get on it

Also, per the junkmiles podcast, as this is a FRAUD Street Run, cheating is not only allowed, but encouraged

"Want to run 11 miles, run 11 miles; want to run 5 on Saturday then 6 on Sunday [or vice versa] do that; want to walk all 11, perfect; want to run a 5K but CLAIM 11 miles, go ahead!"

No Strava, no accountability, no audits, whatsoever
