Bottom bracket tech question
A while ago, wheels manufacturing started making cool BBs bearings that mount in various press fit BB shells, and they comprise of two units which thread together and stay put over time in the frame. Most look kind of like this:

Lots of companies make BB bearings, but who else makes a line of BB bearings that fit various press fit standards, but which thread together similar to what is pictured above? Wheels manufacturing has a good variety of these, but I was just wondering if other companies make a bunch of these types of BB bearings.

Any suggestions? Thanks.

Seems like cervelo is doing their own, it may be the Rotor BB seen here

Token. Their Ninja line has aluminum thread together shells with delrin sleeves at the frame contact points to help with tolerance variances. They also offer an option that is slightly oversize for frames with out of tolerance BB shells. I’ve come across frames where the aluminum Wheel Mfr thread together BB’s go in loose and no amount of tightening will make them work.

We OE-d hundreds of Praxis units in the time that I was at Diamondback with pretty close to zero warranty issues, and the ones that I have used in my personal bikes have been great. I definitely can't say the same for some of the other brands mentioned on this thread. YMMV, of course.

Do they? Every BBinfinite BB I've used has been one piece. That's their primary claim to innovation is that the one piece design aligns the bearings better.

Edit: Though the serve the same general concept as Wheels Mgs of having an easy-to-install sleeve that stays put. There's just no threading. You press them in, and use a bit of locker substance to hold them in place.

Oh woops. You're totally right. While the install isn't quite as simple as with the threaded ones, it was probably my favorite press fit bottom bracket I've ever used. Of course, getting it out is apparently a pretty big crapshoot and might ruin it if I recall correctly, so better stick with whatever standard is chosen...

I just bought BBInfinite's removal tool, but haven't had an opportunity to try it yet. But I'm happy enough with the BB's that I know eventually I will.

My experience is that BBInfinite removal is pretty easy. I just use a small length of ABS pipe with my bottom bracket press.

Been thinking about replacing my BB386 pressfit BB on my BH with

https://www.probikekit.ca/bottom-bracket-cups-spares/rotor-4630-threaded-cups-bb386-steel-black/11529990.html

Did you ever try out any of the threaded BB's you were talking about below

Any thoughts/feedback on that Rotor 4360 one?

I didn't end up getting the frameset that I needed the BB for, but I would still highly favor trying to use a threaded system, as it likely will be more secure over time and use, vs a press-fit only BB. But perhaps others can chime in and offer their experience regarding this.

https://www.bbinfinite.com/ If you get the fancy ones, they come with a insane warranty too. I am running 30mm crank in my BB86 frame which is well known to destroy those tiny bearings. The warranty has already worked once for me.
