pardon the ignorance, i’m still fuzzy on how sealant works.
installed 5000tl tires with a tube a few days ago on vanquish 6 and disc, used the supplied HED tape. put around 60 miles on the install.
pulled tubes today and tape was all nice and flat and beautiful.
proceeded to use stans sealant in the front, put in the recommended 3oz per the stans instructions. install went well.
got to the disc, 3oz of sealant, installed the tire backwards. total facepalm. had to tear it down, got sealant all over the place but this spawned a few questions.
how long does it take for the sealant to cure? will this stuff stay liquid for a while? i just assumed it would coagulate fairly quickly after it was in the wheel / tire. after about 20 min it was still the consistency of milk.
if this stuff cures overnight i’m going to have a big lump at the bottom of the tire.
also, if it stays the consistency of milk for a while, how exactly does it aid in sealing a puncture?
thanks in advance to the tubeless pros.
