Power Metrics for Fast IM Bike Leg
Hi all,

I'm hoping people would be willing to share power metrics for fast (eg 5hr - 5.5 hr) Ironman leg bike times. I know my drag and course conditions will play a big part, but with lots of training indoors this winter I'm hoping for a yardstick to measure against. I found some articles and prior forum entries that suggested an FTP north of 4 W/kg is a good measure. Anyone willing to share data on ave W, normalized power, and W/kg for fast IM times?

Thanks. Ride safe.

+1 to this. I used it for AZ 70.3 last week to get a ballpark and it was within a minute of what I actually did.

Course makes a huge difference. I did 4:51 at IMMT as my fastest IM bike split, but have never raced a fast and relatively flat course. Power for this bike time was around 240 watts. Just over 5:00 on similar power for IMLP, IM Norway and about 20 less watts for around 5:00 in Kona.
