Cold water swimming article

The linked article may have been posted before (and I just missed it). Anyway, winter is just about here and my last swim was in 56 deg. F water (with just Lava pants, no wetsuit). That was my first time in water that cold without a wetsuit, and similar to the author, I found that I wasn't all that uncomfortable after just a few minutes of swimming.

The lakes will be freezing over here, so I won't be swimming in the cold all winter. But, there will be at least another swim or two in the snow, and I like having the additional information about how my body will be reacting.

There's also a short blurb in there about how wetsuits might contribute to SIPE, and I imagine that might spark some commentary here.

Re: SIPE, seems plausible given swimming deaths in triathlons that aren't seen in USMS OWS races.
