Research invitation: Balancing life and triathlon
Quote | Reply
Hi folks,

Balancing triathlon training with other life priorities comes up frequently on Slowtwitch and many other tri forums. We are currently seeking respondents to a survey exploring how age group triathletes balance their sport with their other life priorities (e.g., work, family, social life).

The survey takes 15 minutes to complete. Everyone who completes the survey will have an opportunity to enter a random prize draw for one of five AUD$100 gift vouchers from a well-known online multisport retailer. We will draw the winners on 31 October.

The survey can be accessed here: https://scutourism.qualtrics.com/...m/SV_40GZbP4JBNAUG0t

In terms of who we are, our names are Matt, Millie and Rick. We are tenured staff members in Australian universities and have been publishing research in this space for a number of years. You can see more of our work on these pages:

Many thanks to @Slowman for allowing us to post this request on the forum - and thanks in advance to anyone who gives their time to participate in the study.

Kind regards,
Matt, Millie, Rick

This isn't fair. I describe triathlon as my life. The other thing I do is work.

maybe she's born with it, maybe it's chlorine
If you're injured and need some sympathy, PM me and I'm very happy to write back.

No harm in that :) The study is designed to identify groups of people who are more/less serious, and what characteristics they share. Thanks for participating!

Hopefully this is tongue in cheek :) It's not meant to be a finger-pointing exercise - we're trying to explore what life circumstance lend themselves to different modes of participation. Thanks for filling the survey out!

Would there be a way for us to see the results of your findings in the future, and if so, how will we be able to find it?

Very interesting survey.

Yes, for sure. I’ll post a summary once we’ve crunched the numbers. Probably late this year/early next

Hi all

Thanks to everyone who completed this survey. We have drawn three of the five AU$100 multisport gift vouchers, so please check your email to see if you've received an early Christmas present!

We still have two AU$100 multisport gift vouchers to give away, so we are keeping the survey open for a few more weeks. The survey can be accessed here

The remaining gift vouchers will be drawn on 21st December, so please complete the survey to be in the draw :)

Thanks again.

Good survey. Would be interested in seeing a full text on ResearchGate once you have a manuscript published.

Filled out. Turns out i have a rather balanced view on triathlon, which might be why I'm 100% BOP.

Some of the questions i really wanted to answer 0 to, but felt like it wanted me to go + or -.

On the last page of the survey there was a link to where you can add your email and ask for a report of the survey.

We will certainly do that. We're just slightly short on sufficient responses to get through peer review. In the meantime some of our related work can be accessed here. Cheers!
