Clearcoat for carbon parts -2k or not?
Is a 2k clear coat necessary for refinishing carbon parts? or is a standard acrylic clearcoat okay?

The health warnings and need for a respirator with the 2k are kinda freaking me out.

Feel like if you really read anything you’d get freaked out. I’ve used 2k in rattle can where you break the ball and only good one time. I probably used a mask but don’t think it was anything more than normal paint.

Now making carbon molds using gel coat? That’ll light you up!

Polyester resin is hideous. I like the smell of epoxy, though.

I'm sanding and repainting a frame and will use 2K primer and clearcoat. I'll use a respirator and follow the instructions. I'm a materials scientist in aerospace and deal with hazardous chemicals all the time so I have no concern; as long as you respect them and follow the recommendations using proper PPE, you're good to go.
