I just got my MRI back. Stress fracture lateral to medial. Quick text chat with the doctor said it was great news, it will heal just fine, but have to be patient and careful or it will become a major issue. So time it is. I know you were looking for success stories but to hear my doctor say that was awesome news and I am sure you have heard the same.

Re: Heel stress fracture [Dynamichipgirl]

For me, my left foot/ankle began to ache around mile 7 of 10 on my traditional Sunday longer run. Being a bit stubborn and in hindsight somewhat stupid I pushed through. Spent next 11 days trying to control pain and swelling but both got worse. Primary care doc ordered MRI which concluded acute sagitally oriented fracture of calcaneous with significant bone marrow edema and enhancement. Or as my doc put it, you broke your heel and there’s a lot of swelling. Now I wait in this boot for a few more days for appointment with orthopedic foot/ankle specialist for course of treatment. As a newer triathlete at 50 y/o who was/is training for his first Ironman this November it’s been mentally challenging to accept I’ll been on the shelf for awhile. As I try to see the silver lining in this event I’m committed to improving my swimming during this 6 - 8 week period. Major positive is that MRI states ZERO tendon/ligament damage 👍🏼.
Any other advice to aid in healing is appreciated. Or possibly what to stay away from 😀.
