I have been a suscriber to the magazine for years and enjoy reading. However, this is the end for me. There is no value proposition, even with the 2 "free" books. I love having a print version but $99 is ridiculous for what you get. Sorry, it kills me but no dice from me.

That's luckily no longer true. It's taken a while, but for example the NYT has more digital than print ad revenue. And if you were to look at gross margin due to the cost of delivery, it's even more in favor of digital (although it would depend a bit on your definition and how much of the web development costs you would allocate to delivering the ads). Of course both ad revenues dwarf in comparison to NYT's subscription revenue.
