If you're using the REI anniversary sale 20% off, I don't think it's going to work for the bike. I had the same thought a few years ago. Here's the fine print:
"Discounts not valid on bicycles, bike simulators, strollers, paddle boards, hard-shell boats, any item with GPS technology, action cameras and accessories, activity trackers, personal locator beacons, avalanche transceiver and airbag products, skis, ski boots or ski bindings; snowboards, snowboard boots or snowboard bindings."

Hopefully I'm wrong and you have another way to get the 20% off.

Hmmm...

I have a separate 20% off code due to an issue with my son's bike. Maybe the same thing applies. I'll look into it. Thanks for pointing that out.

I ended up ordering this from REI: https://www.rei.com/...lamr-29-29-bike-2020

There were a few others I would have preferred (YT Jeffsy Base, Fezzari AbajonPeak, Polygon Sisku, Commencal Meta TR) but they were sold out or on backorder for months. Hopefully the frame is decent and can be upgradeable in the future in terms of components if needed.

Were you able to use the annual discount? I thought bikes were excluded.

I tried to order a running stroller yesterday and found they were excluded as well.

No go on the discount. Think I may use it to get a hitchmount bike rack. With through axles, my Thule fork mount won't work anymore.

Did you get the bike yet? Looks like a nice build for the money, I'm curious to hear your thoughts on it as I don't know much about the brand.

I have only a couple rides on it with my 7-year old son on a few little trails near our house, so nothing to test it. Having very little mountain bike experience, I'd say it seems great, but that's having nothing to compare it too. I'll definitely probably do a blog post at some point once I've written it a bit. Build quality seems pretty good - comparing that to road and tri bikes I've had. Of course, it seems huge and heavy comparing to my other bikes, but I'm sure I'll get accustomed to it. I have a hitch for the car and a Kuat rear rack on order and also got my wife a hardtail for her upcoming birthday - so the plan is to get some riding in pretty soon.

Hitch racks are a godsend. I resisted for so long...always hoofing the bike onto the roof and worrying it was going fall off (it fell off once at a very low speed). Feel so much better with it on the hitch.

How much does it weigh? Most modern hardtails should be ~25ish lbs. 29er is the right call for a HT for sure. You'll soak up a ton of the crap in the rear with bigger tires.

My new bike - full suspension Ghost SLAMR - is around 33 pounds. The 29er hardtail I got for my wife is around 28 pounds - it's a Cube Acid with SRAM NX that I ordered through Wiggle and it was shipped from Europe.
