Budget smart trainer

Looking at trainers from my other post I suppose I’d not be true to myself if I didn’t look at budget level stuff. Like the Tacx Flow or maybe some left over Elite Novo type stuff. Any experience?

I still lapped everyone on the couch!

I’m selling my Cycleops Magnus for $250 + shipping. I feel like that is a very good deal.

For sure to think about. As this is stimulus money I’m spending. What is your experience with the Magnus? How is it overall as a trainer?

It’s been great. I ride for 7 minutes using the Rouvy app, then perform a spin down calibration. After that, I close Rouvy and use Zwift or TrainerRoad. The calibration is stored within the trainer for the rest of the ride, and it consistently reads +\- 2% compared to my crank based power meter.

I’m only selling because I bought a Cycleops Hammer, their direct drive option.

The sound isn’t bad - about the same as a fluid trainer I used to have.
It’s even quieter if you use a real indoor trainer tire, as that is designed to absorb the vibrations.

Kurt Kinetic has an inexpensive option:

They also sell refurbished trainers for a cheaper price if you catch them in stock.
