Now, these two topics have come up in my life recently and I want to get other viewpoints on them. What does it mean when someone says you are mature? What does it mean when someone says that you are wise? What does it mean when someone says you are immature?
How are these two qualities developed? Is it through personal relationships? Does it come about because of just living life and having life experiences? What other personal qualities added up together equate into maturity and wisdom?
There are lots or reasons that I'm asking this. I guess I'm going through one of those self-evaluation and "who do I want to be" moments right now. Another reason is that one of the reasons that my parents got divorced is because my dad is immature. I do not want to end up like my dad for various reasons. Finally, I tend to be attracted to older women (i'm 27) since I feel like I have more in common with them than women my age or younger. My ideal age range is 27-33ish, but it's difficult for me because they see a number (27) instead of seeing me.
What is maturity? Does it mean having a plan in life, knowing yourself, and being yourself? Is it an outlook on life? Is it handling responsibility and difficult situations easily? Is it respecting and being kind to others? What does it take and what does it take on the other end to be immature? When someone says that I'm mature for my age, do they mean that I'm too serious for my age? I'm just trying to put my finger on what this maturity tag means and if it is different than what i perceive to be maturity.
So, what do the other (and hopefully older, wiser, and more mature ST'ers) think about this?
Thanks.
