I had an Accura that I fed a quart of oil a month. Never knew the exact cause, but drove it probably 6 years in that condition including a cross country drive.

Ya, but that could be a bunch of different things that are not that important, like a head gasket. You could have had a valve cover gasket leak, oil pan, drain plug, oil filter, or other just leaks that dont do much else. And of course the most obvious for old cars, is that they just burn oil. I have a 97 Saturn that goes through about a quart every 1500 miles, and not a leak anywhere..
