Keep in mind, you're getting this from the great Timberwolf, who has been known on occasion to FUBAR the correct meaning of things, but I'm feelin' frisky, so I'll give it a try:

A primary election is where the individual goes to a polling place and submits a ballot into the old fashioned ballot box and then the results are counted by election officials (how am I doing so far?). With a caucus, people who are registered with one party or the other go to caucus', which might be somebody's house or where ever, and you select from the list of candidates. These results are tabulated by caucus organizers and then submitted to higher ups.

The primary's are kinda like the ITU, and the Caucus is kinda like the Ironman Hawaii Draft.
