Re: New trainer - Elite Suito or Saris H3? [natethomas] [ In reply to ]

Just FYI, just got my H3 yesterday, but one thing I thought was weird was the documentation says you should use Rouvey for firmware updates and to calibrate, and includes a 1 month free sub. Not too interested in Rouvey since my entire social circle does Zwift. DCR mentioned in his review that an app was coming, so searched and lo and behold there's now a Saris app that does firmware updates, calibration, and has an erg mode. I would hope that Saris at least updates the online documentation as not sure why you put out an app like this and keep it secret.

Already updated the firmware, took a few minutes, the first item listed was cadence improvement, and I know this was an area where DCR dinged the H3. Doesn't matter much to me since I'll use my Quarq for power and cadence, but thought it was worth mentioning for those of you that will use the H3 for everything.

FWIW, you have to do the same for Powertap pedals, but it's just for firmware updates. That said I tried checking for updates the other day and the Rouvy app was basically unusable. Sadly, I couldn't find the Saris app in the Google app store.

Thanks re the app. Just downloaded it. Did my first ride on the H3 this morning - definitely a better feel than the Kicker Snap I’ve used for the past 18 months or so. I generally use my pm to control the trainer, and that worked fine with the H3 on the maiden voyage.

I'm on Android and that's where I downloaded it from. It's just called "Saris".

Hmm, weird. That didn't come up when I initially searched. Thanks for the tip!

You're welcome, but really, Saris is dropping the ball on this, even if it was launched too late for the printed docs they should have it on their website.
