Not injuries. He just got sick a lot. Diet related.

I follow him on Twitter still. He's been making a "comeback" with some 70.3s. Twitter bio says he's aiming for Kona 2020. Interesting diet stuff - gone full carnivore. He was on Taren's podcast a bit back discussing some of it.

He clearly hasn't watched Game Changers

Poor Pete has been confused since winning Kona. His wife is a qualified nutritionist yet he lives on meat only now.

How's that work?

It wasn't diet related. He started suffering severe fatigue and tried extreme diets when doctors and specialists couldn't offer him any effective answers. For someone who has been through a bout of fatigue and the lengths it took to find the answers only found by a nutritionist I sympathise with him hugely. He now is feeling better with what he has found and is back racing again. I raced at Sunshine Coast 70.3 with he was on the start line and good to see.

My point. His wife is a qualified nutritionist and he has gone meat only. I am sure not any nutritionists would ever recommend that. Yet his wife is allowing him?

And my point is he has tried everything and nothing has worked until now. Who is anyone to judge?

Pete doesn't have to ask his wife's permission to go all carnarvoire. LOL

By "worked until now"? do me mean fallen off the face of triathlon. He has been much worse since his MEAT DIET. look at his last race in China.

One would think the prescription he followed in 2011-2012 was the right one, not what is happening now.

Technique will always last longer then energy production. Improve biomechanics, improve performance.

Remember it was post 2010-12 that the issues started and he was struggling to get out of bed when he was still following proven methods then. It was after this time that he went out there with his diet trying to find solutions so he could lead a normal life let alone race. From where he was being unable to get out of bed and now line up on a start line he is miles in front. I don't know his exact diet and merits behind it but all I know is after his Kona win his health went downhill and he was a broken man. For him to be feeling healthy again is awesome and everyone can pass judgement with no real knowledge or understanding besides what they read on Insta or twitter I find quite amusing.

I've been following Pete's story since about 2002 when he was first age grouper out at Forster. From memory he experienced a bout of chronic fatigue early on in his pro-career (say 2004?), recovered to become a world beater, and then went down that path again.
Having also had a dose of chronic fatigue I have been interested to see how Jacobs has handled his. In my case I have been able to repeat the quality of performance that I could prior to illness, but not as often and only under very careful self management. I am certainly not the same as I was, and not able to be as consistent. I imagine for an IM pro a similar reality would be a drag, hence I have watched Pete pinball around various treatments and methods.
He was an awesome athlete, with enormous potential when he put it together. I hope he can return to near his previous level, or if not, at least experience good health and happiness. He seems a good and decent person.

Given her career is to give people nutritional advice and she's studied for this, her professional opinion from her studies would not support meat only eating.

So either she is a very poor nutritionist, or it's a joke career for her.

And guessing you aren't married. Every married guy asks his wife their opinion and sometimes permission (pink here)

He is a fantastic guy.

I think his wife's qualifications are the ones easily obtained by doing a short course, she is definitely not an expert on diet and nutrition. But she does make some good looking meals.

I haven't researched and nor do I intend to but can anyone confirm he is on a total carnivore diet? Besides Frodo adding his view on Pete's twitter based on the necessity of meat in a diet I haven't seen anywhere that he is a complete carnivore.

I actually just noticed he did Shanghai 2 weekends ago. Went well as expected on the swim and the bike. Suffered on the run.

Then was back in Noosa for the Noosa tri last weekend

Now on the start list for 70.3 Xiamen China.

Interesting given there is a 70.3 in Sydney an hours flight from his home rather than I guess a 15 hour flight to China.

In China he will get everything paid for and will be treated like an Ironman World Champion. In Sydney he will get nothing and be treated like a carnivore freak.I know where I'd prefer to go.

I recall hearing him say he has done about 30 ironman distance races over his career. Except maybe for Wurf, that is a lot and took a toll on his body he said years ago.
