If lack of fitness level is the cause of cramps, what is the desired training strategy to reach my race goals?? I'm training for the Chatty 70.3 in seven months so I have plenty of time.

The training strategy I would use is to build the most endurance and threshold power as I could and then starting 12 weeks out I'd start experimenting with pacing intensities since that seems to be very important to your success.

Personally I would build in rest cycles (7 to 10 days of easy) every 16-18 weeks (three 5-6 week cycles) and be the best I could at the end of each cycle while timing the last cycle to coincide with your biggest race.

You have ~30 weeks of training so depending on where you are deficient, I'd spend the first large cycle building Theshold power, endurance and efforts at VO2max if you need it. The next cycle on endurance and pacing for your biggest race.

That's the way I'd approach your training.
