My suggestion is has nothing to do with equipment, but you should take cold showers between now and race day.... the colder the showers the better. Just take your morning and evening showers ice cold. It will prepare your body for dealing with the initial shock. Ideally you'd do this for a couple weeks, but a couple days is better than nothing. I did this before my last cold water swim and it made a big difference in terms of how I dealt with the cold.

Last year was officially 56, but likely closer to 55. Someone on the facebook page just took the temp about 20 minutes ago and said it was 56 now which was a degree warmer than his last reading. With the weather staying warm and low winds, it will probably go up at least another degree or two.

2024 Races: Taupo

Water temp was 57.5 this morning. Plan on a full 1.2 mile swim on Sunday! Z

Love it. I think this race director is solid and I trust they'll do everything reasonable to have the full swim. I was super impressed (and happy) when it wasn't shortened last year as well. 58° is going to feel great. Great weather all around!
