How about an aero straw? Can't they make those things not round? A hidden straw is best, but aero should be possible, right?

The more people I encounter the more I love my cats.

Do you use the computer mount? Do you find the straw annoying to look around/through to see the computer when it is down? Also do you get any splashing out of the lid on rough/bumpy roads? I get splashed a lot from my xlab and find it very annoying :)

No I don't use the computer mount I have it ahead of the bottle. There is some plastic mesh rolled up in the front of the bottle that stops a lot of splashing and it seals reasonably well. That being said if you fill it to the max and go over some rough road some liquid comes out the bottle but better than most I've used including the Xlab. I have my bars high so the fill point being right at the end highest point works well with tilted bars. In all honesty by far the best BTA bottle I have ever used. Here is pics of my bike for reference. I have since had new custom extensions made so is neater now but essentially the same set up.

He replied to me and in my original post I had never mentioned anything about a torpedo only the DS1 so I can't imagine why?

Hi Matthew,

Let me know if I can help in anyway to sort the splashing on your Torpedo - happy to look into your setup and see if I spot anything that could be causing the splashes.

Also curious on seeing why the straw is getting in way of view of your computer when it is down.

Many people have contributed so I won't repeat what they said as that is what we have also found.

I would just add that there are other benefits in a straw system than just the aerodynamics side. One reason I have heard more than any other reason, is to remind them to drink as you mentioned. Whether it is a reminder in avoiding dehydration/ultimately bonking on the run course, or tactically - before overtaking, take a quick sip and then power through on the overtake vs pulling up on the straw and potentially missing your opportunity for that overtake.

If you cut the straw short and have high hands the straw is shielded by your hands.

There is also zero splashing with the xlab torpedo. Never had any problems with the system.
