With all the other records that are falling there the new track at 8200 ' ( or so) is proving to be plenty fast !

Congrats to Ashton! But this being ST, can we focus on that HELMET for a second?
Folks here talk about reducing the gap between the helmet and the back/shoulders all the time. But I've always seen this illustrated with profile photos from the side. That sort of illustration ignores the fact that shoulders are a rather bluff body (and the buffer they are, the bluffer the are) and a helmet might look good in profile but not address air hitting the shoulders directly.
This helmet, on the other hand, appears to do that, and seems to be re-directing the air that would otherwise flow into the gap between the shoulders and the side of the head. In other words, it fairs more of the width of the shoulders.
Aero thoughts?
And are we gonna see more "Spaceballs"-inspired memes?

Aero thoughts? That helmet came out in 2012 and not many wore it by choice. Now everybody wants it now that it's no longer made! Testing results were mixed. If it is a good fit to your body and position it should be a winner.

A fair guess is that it's better in track conditions with more...Huub Wattbike style positions.
Still looks goofy... sorry Gustav.

Nice!! And congrats to him and Eric Young, Daniel Holloway and John Croom. They got silver in the team pursuit and set a new American record of 3:52.747.

Are any videos up anywhere?
Most of the photos I see posted are old. This one might be from the Cochabamba track:

Ron,
Do you have a link for the extensions that he is still using? Also, it looks like they have a straight Allen bolt from the base bar with the possibility of spacers being placed on top of the base bar.
Thanks for your time 😊

xcrider got it. I think they were a lot cheaper in the past. Then they raised the price, and now don't seem to have them available anymore.
I don't think it would be that tough to take some cheap extensions and add epoxy filler and carbon to achieve the same thing.
