Silca's Hiro adapter is very much worthwhile., the old crackpipes are annoying, no matter how good you are (even when you have a second set of hands) - The Hiro - just connect and start pumping. A little on the exxy side, sure, but time, effort and aggravation reasons are more important to me.

(note: not a paid or unpaid shill, just had issues with crack pipes in the past)

I just want to thank everyone for chipping in to this thread. It's been really helpful.

Very often ST has a habit of either explaining something at 'no knowledge' level, or at its most complicated. This hit the good spot in the middle.

jroden, We cover slow tires in the hysteresis episode of Marginal Gains Podcast.. hysteresis is everywhere and beautifully explains why crappy tires are both slow AND why they ride and handle poorly. Also explains why you DON'T want damping in your bar tape and why 0-30 degrees in the wind tunnel is not the same as 30-0 in the wind tunnel

That app leaves out a lot of variables, but is one of the better ones at getting you a good starting point for pressure.

We have Mercedes Sprinter that we take around the country to different races and events, we call it the 'inflation station' which is a total misnomer as we probably spend 80% of our time taking air OUT of people's tires and helping educate them on why they shouldn't run too much pressure.

If you look at the Rolling Resistance/Impedance curves you see that you are way better off to be a few psi low than a few psi high.. and most of us have grown up running too high.
