You don't have anything to worry about unless you have suspension.

Riding with your body weight hung all over the wheels is much harder on them than hanging the 15-20 pounds of bike from a wheel.

By all means, don't! Here's advice from one of the most respected experts on rec.bikes.tech:

"The main problem is that the bike frame will stretch and mess up your
position if you leave it hanging like that. As far as the wheels go,
just be sure that you let the air out of the tires or else it will all
collect at the bottom."

A bike would have to be hung upside down for years in order for that to happen!....Please explain the tire deal?....what will all be at the bottom?

Last year we took down my Army-green Schwinn Varsity from the hooks where it had hung (no kidding) upside down by the wheels since 1975. Let's see... that's 29 years (crap I'm OLD!), and other than a little bit of surface rust it was perfectly fine.

I'm hoping (and praying) you're kidding... but if not... (AGAIN) the dangers of the Internet and it's forums...

Hooked.

This comes up on occasion over at r.b.r., and the replies are really funny.
