To be clear I don't really think that you voted for Trump, I was trying to get a rise out of you (because I can be a dick like that). But you do as slowman said take great joy in him being the President and it kind of makes it sound like you are a MAGA guy.

I don't think JSA is *directly* joyful about Trump being president, but rather he's just so hopelessly tied to "the team" that it doesn't matter who's president as long as they let him laugh at Team Donkey. Which is sort of a sad way to vote in this country, but unfortunately a lot of people are in that camp.

Not to speak for JSA, but just because Trump is a loser doesn't mean (most) Donkeys aren't also losers. Just sayin.

Well, to that, I'd just refer you back to Dan's comment about the threat Trump poses to the institutions of this country. I can vote for someone distasteful if they're not going to attack our separation of powers, attack freedom of the press, cause political interference in our law enforcement, etc.

Voting? I already mentioned my voting plans. I'm talking about giving people a little grief in the LR.

Exactly, WTF? That's some solid logic... Gets pissy for others pointing out how he's aligned himself w/ Trump even though he professes distaste for Trumpism, but then turns around and pledges to vote for Trump next time ~ right, "That'll show 'em...!"

I thought he said something about getting high 'later'; must've ended up being sooner...

I made clear in several posts in 2016 that I would not and did not. I would have no problem admitting I voted for him and admitting it was a mistake. I’ve done worse and apologized for more (even to you regarding the comments I made about Canadian soldiers in WWII, which I regret to this day). But, there is no gotcha here. Wasn’t a moral decision. I made it very clear - 1) he isn’t a Republican or a conservative and 2) I was positive he was going to lose. I was wrong on #2. I was wrong on most of the 2016 primary. It happens.

Agree with your two points and and take you at your word on your vote.

But for much of this thread you seem Trump Curious.

Ha! I like that! Not Trump Curious. Just tired of basically being called a racist because a duffus co-opted my party.

And again that's the Donkeys fault?

Any real strategy would have to consider that he may certainly be able to win an election with 45% of the vote (if he can win three states in the Midwest), but he can't govern from that position. He has lost almost all votes outside of his base. This gains him nothing in suburbia, and hardens distaste for him. Trump has almost no ability to get anywhere near 50%, so his best play is to split the Democrat party, which has major fissures already. This does the opposite. Pundits often overanalyze tactics.

I agree. I think the only play is for him to hope the Dems “eat their own”. I have to believe that he has lost some of his supporters, making it much harder to pull of the Hail Mary he did in 2016. I don’t know if it does the opposite. Let them bond now, and they boil underneath, and he’ll (I’m assuming) keep them from spilling over on each other by other tweets. And then let them loose on each other right before the election. I sure hope you’re right. Was an interesting take on it though, especially if true.

I'm not sure the strategy is hoping the Dems eat their own. I think the strategy is: 1. There are equal numbers of Rep and Dems. But if you can make the Dems as a party look bad (socialist, giving away everything, will kill the economy), then the independent block may hold their nose and vote Right. Remember a lot of the independents don't like either party. But if you're honest, you will note that the right does have a good/strong economy. That is a very powerful reason to maintain the status quo even if you don't like the person leading the charge.

1. No. As bad as HRC was, she still got millions more votes that Trump, even w/ a ton of Obama voters sitting out (which is ultimately what cost the D's). It might seems closer to 50/50 because too many of the Ds are packed into too few states (mostly CA), so having a smaller number of R's spread among more states (basically the entire Midwest & South) gives them a disproportionate amount of stature in Congress relative to their raw population.

2. If you're honest, you will note that the right's good/strong economy is pretty much a consistent extension of the trend line they inherited from the previous administration.

Sorry, I missed that question. Honestly, I don't know enough at this point to give an intelligent, well-informed answer. By the time of the election, I will have one. But, based on my very early impressions and subject to change upon learning more, there are few that would cause me little sleep loss and could actually get my vote (remember, I admit being ill-informed at this point, so, this could change): Biden, Buttigieg, Warren (maybe), Julian Casto has me curious. The ones I think are demented: Harris, Booker, Bernie. The remaining candidates seem quite fringe and not worth even discussing.

When has that ever stopped you before?

1.) The reason to be against these 4 congresswomen is entirely based on the content of their ideas and their characters, and not the color of their skin nor their grandparents' country of origin. For Trump to F that message up is inexcusable. He's in a position that's too important for that to be forgivable -- not that he's even asking for forgiveness after he f'ed it up. I didn't vote for Trump, but he is worse at being President than I thought he would be.

2.) I will vote for whatever R runs against Trump in the primary.

3.) I would probably vote for a Biden type D should the decision come down to him/her versus Trump.

4.) A Warren or Sanders type D will not get my vote, but Trump still won't either.

100% agree! "Biden type" is needed, not Biden himself...though I've not completely written him off as I think he would be much more Presidential than what we have now.

We've told Biden decisively that we don't want him as president twice before, hell I don't even know if people remember he ran in 2008. Can anyone even name all 4 people who beat him in Iowa? I'm certain I can't. And now he is back. And old.

He is doing everything he can to walk that middle line. I don't know what of his positions are sincerely held versus being for convenience.

Biden also ran in 1988. If I remember correctly, he bowed out after getting caught plagiarizing some UK Labour leader in some speeches.

And some plagiarism in college.

Which would now be laughable that he would get bounced for that. Let's see, Gary Hart had an affair. Biden cheated in college, Howard Dean yelled in excitement, ...

I'm beginning to think that we are much more fucked than I thought.

You hurt my head reading that (not joking), so well played (and funny).

That's the whole rub: the guy is a fucking idiot (I truly believe that). Or is he?? I mean, he ACTUALLY FUCKING WON the Presidency and there is no way I would have believed it. I mean...maybe we are all midgets in his mental warfare game, and he is just on a different level ("normal peeps" can only get on that level when baked). I'd like to think that isn't the case as it really makes me look badly at myself. But shit...It makes sense. Maybe it was a masterful chess move, and my checkers brain can't grasp it.

I linked the article, and they actually made mention that we shouldn't think that he is some brilliant strategist...but...

Who's the bigger fool...the fool that leads or the fool that follows?
