Hard.

I slapped it off. It wasn't one of those where you feel a little nip and figure it must have been a fish. This guy latched on and I whacked him with my hand and felt him in my palm. A good 2-3 inches of vicious man-eater.

One of the under-reported dangers of open water swimming in freshwater lakes.
