My issue with Cobain and the idolization is that it seemed to take off after he died.

They were already huge, obviously, but after he died it was like he became a deity to some people.

One thing for guys like Cobain, or Jim Morrison, or Jimi Hendrix (as opposed to Bourdain, or Robin Williams, for instance) is that dying young kinda 'froze' them at their peak, so we don't get/have to see or remember them becoming old/fat/senile, etc like a lot of former idols (see: Elvis, or Ozzy).

^^^^^This

Plus, I don’t think people worship Cobain because he committed suicide, rather like Hendrix and Morrison the sense of loss for what might have been raises up what was.

The "27 Club". Add Amy Winehouse and Janis Joplin and some others.

What a guy

Loved his series, would watch one a day easy. Travel, food, comedy, commentary and vicarious experiences.....why pick when you can have it all? Best thing on the box

The kitchen confidential was a great introduction to kitchen life and gastro indulgence

His assistant finished the book that they were working on when he died and it was just published. I just got it and it's next on my list to read. I can go back and watch all of his shows again and again.

I read that by the pool one Summer

Doesn't it start with a bride/bridesmaid getting fucked by a chef in the alley outside the kitchen of the place where they're having the reception?

Needless to say, THAT left an impression
