I stayed at the Marriott Residence Inn on 5th and it was fine. Walking distance to everything, including transition and restaurants, Tempe Mission Palms and the Courtyard by Marriott are fine also. Try Oregano's on University for pizza and pasta. Postino, around the corner from the Residence Inn, has a great happy hour for after the race. Next door is a good breakfast joint - Snooze.

The AC Hotel (Marriott) is basically @ the park, swim exit is in front of the hotel. I have stayed there for AZ and AZ70.3.. I put my wetsuit on in the hotel room and walk out and jump in the water. Can't get much closer than that.

One of the best things about that venue is the low cost and convenience of lodging. It is near the airport, so you have numerous reasonably priced rooms. Don’t feel you have to walk to the venue—driving and parking is easy on race day.
