Well - It Depends.

I had mine done in '03, back before I was even 'serious' about Triathlon (I had done a few Sprints and Olys), and was able to walk out of the recovery room sans crutches, and back running again in ~2 weeks.
Mine was what they called a bucket handle tear, medial meniscus.
They removed that part, and smoothed out the rest.

It held up fantastically well thru the next 15+ years -
did 3 IM's, and dozens of other long course events like AmZof, HIM's, SOS, Mary's and Half Marys, Trail races, etc.
Plus downhill skiing, mtb'ing, hiking, lots of other active stuff.

....but now I've got another small tear in the same one. Sigh.
Gonna play it by ear, and hopefully "work around it" for at least the rest of this season.

So - if your results are like mine, you'll most likely be able to get right back out there in fairly short order.
