To add, my bike started as an sv650, then I put a gsxr 750 front end on it, penske double on the read, hotter cams, etc. but always the stock exhaust.
It was a blast in the twisties.
Nice.
The forks on the 1000 are 46mm cartridge rather than the 41mm damper rod on the 650. The forks aren't holding me back, although I really need to adjust the set up. Too soft and slow for my size/style.
My bike is stock (so far), with the exception of my homemade fender delete and the mufflers. The PO decided to take a hole saw and remove the final baffle on each. It's louder, raspy, and I don't think it helps power. I'm still deciding what to do about it. I don't like loud. I have a stock set off an 03, but mounts are different. And damn, they are heavy.
And agree, so much fun in the twisties.
