We have a second home there, so I run and ride there often.

Lots of great riding there. You could do a 60-70 mile ride starting near Sycamore Cycles off 276 and base of Pisgah Forest, heading to Rosman, take 215 to the blue ridge parkway and then back down to 276. Do a search - several websites have routes. Ride with GPS will also give you a lot of options. Generally the roads are in good shape with relatively low traffic. You can get a relatively flat ride staying in the valley or get some significant climbing in by hitting the hills.

For trails, I like running in DuPont state forest. Go to the visitor center parking lot and start down Buck Forest road. Lots of trails off of there to help add distance. The visitor center also has trail maps you can take with you in your run. Hard to get too lost, and if you get out there early you’ll feel like you have the entire state park to yourself.
