Has anyone tried both skratch and science in sport (SIS)?
I've tried both. I like Skratch (hydration mix powder) both for flavor and function. I don't like SiS powder mix or isotonic gels for these reasons:
a) hydration drink mix contains aspartame, and I don't see a need to put that crap in me
b) isotonic gels taste god awfully bad
Note: the gels taste to me like somebody put a whole gu pack in their mouth swished it around with a little sports drink, and then spit it into the SiS package. They have this strange saliva taste to me which is really hard to describe, and the flavor on the label comes through as extremely processed--like Jolly Rancher or Airheads impressions of lemon/lime, sour apple, pineapple, etc. Just gross.
Stick with Skratch if you can. But I've found transitioning to either of these was very easy with no issues:
- Osmo hydration mix
- Salt Stick capsules broken open and mixed into plain water (1 cap per 20-24 oz)
I pretty much exclusively use the mixed Salt Stick for hydration now as it's realatively cheap, not sticky, and contains no calories for the workouts when I'd rather not take any in.
