zwift workout maker

hi,
I did a quick search and posted as well on the zwift forum.

I enjoy Zwift for workouts and for ‘just’ riding. I would like to combine them.

I would like to create a workout that had blocks where power is controlled by the workout plan and some blocks where the resistance is controled by the route I'm riding. For example do a steady 80% FTP for ten minutes followed by 10 minutes of whatever terrain I'm on followed by 10 minutes 80 per cent.

A ‘free ride’ block in the workout maker just means that the rider controls the power output but is not terrain dependent.

I hope this question makes sense.
thanks

Yep! This is totally doable.

You're after the FlatRoad=0 'feature'. I've covered it here for sprints, same applies for any given interval block where you want to enter SIM mode and ride the terrain.

You need to open the ZWO workout files in a text editor (Notepad or similar)

got it. thanks. Your youtube video was entertaining.

I am not a computer guy at all and am sure Im not the only one so ill put up the route that I took to get there...

search windows for zwift files.
find workout files....right click and select 'open file location'
left click on workout you want and open it in notepad.
edit as instructed in video ( flat road 1 becomes flat road 0 in appropriate section)
save

go back to zwift and ride the workout. It will still say free ride but it will go to 'sim' mode.
