Hey Poker Players...

I think there are few here. Nice interesting story.
"Wellenbach finds it's his way of justifying his struggles with the morality of taking money off opponents while also enjoying the game of poker..."

It has been firmly established that it is immoral to allow stupid people to keep their money at the table. They are going to lose all of it eventually, may as well be to a standup guy like me.

But seriously, every time I went easy on a dumb person, either because it was clear they were in over their head or just too stupid to live, they didn't keep their money, they just gave it away to someone else. You just can't help them.

ETA - and honestly, I give most of mine away too. On the way home. To Alexis, Trinity, Venus, ...

I'm beginning to think that we are much more fucked than I thought.

Yes. Even at the lowest levels of play in casinos a semi-decent player can consistently take home $400 - $500/night. You don't have to be the best, you just have to be above average and smart. Keep yourself at the right level of play and be patient. And take stupid peoples' money. :)

But the vast majority of players are there for the thrill, not to grind out a living. And there is definitely some thrill when there is a great big pot that you think you are winning.

I'm beginning to think that we are much more fucked than I thought.

So I read it again more carefully since it a good story. Well, I overlooked that part: ".. Also, what I mean is I donate my net winnings. Many nights, you lose. If I win $100 one night and lose $70 the next night, I'll donate the profits".
I am little more at peace now..
