What news do you pay for?
That is, subscribe to?

There’s plenty of shitty propaganda out there. Other threads have covered this.

It seems to be true in life that you get what you pay for, so if your not paying for your information, it might not be good.

The Economist, FT, and Bloomberg. If I had to keep only one I'd probably keep Bloomberg.

Denver Post. I'm a bit old school, I like to actually read through the newspaper, on the weekends anyway.

Curious about this since I'm subscribed to The Economist and FT. What does Bloomberg have that would make you OK leaving the other two publications (genuine question)?

Does membership to local PBS/NPR station count? If so, I'm in for both of those. While not "news" we get the NewYorker which has some decent exposes/profiles. I know, I know... it's all fake.

Have not read it for a while, but enjoyed the mag for several years. They just took a beating for misrepresenting Ben Shapiro, but they did ultimately apologize.

ps. the only thing I pay for right now is WSJ.com . I take in a good deal of NPR and GPB, and it's been years since I donated, but hey, I'm a taxpayer!

Had Wash Post and NY Times, but wife got sick of their slant. She replaced them with The Times (England) which gives interesting perspectives about our side of the pond and also gives us more detailed news from UK and Europe. Plus if I try the crossword or other word games, I get the challenge of trying to figure out how Brits spell.

I have a Bloomberg terminal and the FT, but paid for by my employer.

Even if you don't subscribe, you gotta get online somehow, so you're paying there

I believe that's what Net Neutrality was about: no one provider could funnel the content you saw by who you paid, or in what amount

I could be wrong

Net Neutrality is more about service providers than content providers.

All UK but I subscribe to:

Telegraph
The times
The FT

The economist

I'd like to stop the telegraph and the Times but the op eds in the telegraph bring me back because they are so insane

News wise, the FT is here, by far ans away the best on current affairs, investigative journalism and the economy

The economist is intelligent commentary but not completely current as the pace of UK politics at the moment is hourly

You donate to the Guardian online, or you pay for their hard copy?

Neither. I'd never pay for the guardian and I could never supplement owen Jones life.......

It just has a good live political field - though now I've discovered twitter I don't read it half as much

New York Times
WaPo
WSJ
The New Yorker

And I used to subscribe to the Plain-Dealer (Cleveland), but the delivery guy was horrible. After not getting the paper for 2 months and complaining every other day, I cancelled. I tried, local journalism, I tried!

I donate to the Guardian which I’d be quite content to leave all my worldly possessions to. Quality remains very high even though they don’t have a paywall .. yet.

I have recently thought of resubscribing to the Economist as the quality is and has always been consistently through the roof ... there’s no competition.

I refuse to give a cent to any Murdoch paper, also to the NY Times. It is very American / NY-centric and not written with enough objectivity or a real local perspective. I prefer the WashPost.

My problem with the guardian; Owen Jones and Paul Mason is the same as my problem with the tory graph; hanan, Johnson and patterson

I cancelled tory graph and will stick with FT, times and economist
