Just a few I've read recently and thoroughly enjoyed --

I read "Between the World and Me" by Ta-Nehisi Coates last weekend and was blown away by it. Cannot stop thinking about it.

"To Shake the Sleeping Self" by Jedidiah Jenkins is also fantastic. It's about his journey on bicycle from Portland, Oregon to Patagonia & his personal growth.

"The Dog Stars" by Peter Heller was a great read. If you're a fan of Cormac McCarthy's "The Road," you'll probably enjoy this.

"The Boy Who Runs: The Odyssey of Julius Achon" by Julius Achon was a great read. It's one you cannot help but feel good about having read.

Lastly, it's older but I'd only saw the movie and hadn't read the book until recently, which is a real shame because the book is unreal: "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" by Ken Kesey.

I just binge-read City of Brass and The Kingdom of Copper, the first two books in S.A. Chakraborty’s triology. I’d describe is as an Arabian Guy Gavriel Kay-esque fantasy series. Although it’s way less clunky than the Fionovar Tapestry, more comparable to his later books.

I recently reread American Gods and Anansi Boys by Neil Gaiman and them Good Omens by him and Terry Pratchett. Those are always worth a reread.

If you can dig up a copy of Tibor Fischer’s Under the Frog it’s a great book. A fictional story based on his father’s life in communist Hungary. He was a basketball player for the national railway team. It’s funny and rude poignant and a great read.

"You can never go wrong with a Neil Gaiman book"
^^ This.

I started with The Graveyard Book, which I loved, and next read American Gods, after which I immediately subscribed to Starz for the sole purpose of watching the first season of American Gods, the TV show, which was brilliantly creative. (I then canceled my Starz subscription, planning to resubscribe for season two--until I read the bad reviews.)

I also recommend Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophesies of Agnes Nutter, Witch, which Gaiman co-wrote with Terry Pratchett.

After that, you probably will be as excited as I am about the six-episode series, with Gaiman as writer and show runner, that will be released on Amazon Prime Video in May. Here's the trailer:
