Aero drop bars, where do you end the bar tape?
At the turn with just enough tape to protect against damage from falls or leaning against something?
Or... a single handwidth on the aero section?

Wrapping the full distance is not an option... that's just silly.

Something like this is my preference. Just around the corner and stop where the bar starts to taper down.

I used to not go round the corners.

On another note. I also used to add a sliver of bar tape on top of the handle, and then wrap around that. I like a little extra cushion.

I didn't wrap my extensions at all. https://www.pinkbike.com/photo/15026728/

This. Enough to cover where my hands rest when riding on the hoods, no further.

I went this route, but sometimes I slip when going aero and forearms are sweaty. Now I wrap a bit more so I get some grip on the forearms.

I should have said "on gravel bike"

Yup, aero drops on my gravel bike. Anyone who rides a lot of gravel knows you spend way more time on the tops than on the road.
I wonder how comfortable/grippy bare tops will be riding over bumpy terrain?

This is the same on my gravel bike. I have had no issues riding on the bare tops on gravel, the carbon soaks up the vibration. Also a heavy sweater and haven't had any problems with slipping on the bare carbon.

You will loose less than 1 watt at 40km/h in aero performance to tape the bar the whole way.
I will link to testing as soon as I remember where it is.
