Your narrative fails in one aspect; where did McCain get the dossier from? If he knowingly got it from a questionable source and did not identify that to the FBI, then he may have been less than honorable and could be found guilty of a crime.

I have also spoken with others who were POWs along with McCain, and they did not share your respect for McCain's motives even while in the Hanoi Hilton. I met him a decade or so later when he was in his early years in Congress, and I found him to be more of a "me first" kind of person.[/quote vecchia]

I guess the Clinton campaign and the law firm that started the dossier ball rolling knew they had a very credible, courageous, maverick republican who could carry the water forward to the FBI with some gravitas. Help me understand what crime in passing the source material on for further investigation. A potentially compromised President elect is of vital national security importance.

The stories of other POW's is not news. Faults abound in all of us and arrogance and self pride runs strong in some. This man had more personal ambition than most and played his past tragedy for his career development as well as he could. Whoop de doo, he was not the first and won't be the last. "Me first and to the top I go" is a tried and true formula by many before. Bottom line, he continued to serve his country honorably for decades and was instrumental and influential in all our activities beyond our shores, some good and some bad.

Sorry, but I fucking hate fucking politicians, especially the phony baloney fatass ones. Like Chubby Jello-Brain. Heh.

Men are weird I thought it was “I like big butts and I cannot lie...”

I was a decent triathlete in my past life, and a lifelong athlete to begin with, not to mention a career military guy. I like people who look in shape, man or woman. So, I don't like big butts, and I cannot lie.

Wow!!! You were in the military? And a good triathlete? I'm pretty sure you have never mentioned that. Is that where they gave you the nickname "poopy-pants"?

S/he didn't know that, most likely, and it's important for context. Do you understand that context? Probably not, "Captain."

So, Poopy-Pants, where is your “clever” nickname for Hickenlooper, or Buttigieg? Too easy?

It has also been proven wrong too: how many direct connections to Russia have been found? If it was true as you said, why have they not been able to point to any and say "gottcha" in over two years of investigation?

Lots of direct connections to Russia have been found. I guess you haven't been paying much attention.

Here is one example of an excerpt from the dossier:

..."the Russian regime had been behind the recent leak of embarrassing email messages, emanating from the Democratic National Committee (DNC), to the Wikileaks platform. The reason for using Wikileaks was "plausible deniability" and the operation had been conducted with the full knowledge and support of Trump and senior members of his campaign team."

From what we now know, that appears to have been fairly accurate.

This was also in the dossier:

"Over the period March-September 2016 a company called [redacted] and its affiliates had been using botnets and porn traffic to transmit viruses, plant bugs, steal data and conduct “altering operations” against the Democratic Party leadership. Entities linked to one [redacted] were involved and he and another hacking expert, both recruited under duress by the FSB, [redacted] were significant players in this operation."

Details within the indictments of the 12 GRU officers corroborates those allegations from the dossier.

The dossier also talks about Trump's various business dealings in Russia. The sentencing memo for Michael Cohen neither confirms nor contradicts the dossier's discussion on Trump's business ties (and possible bribes paid via his companies), but did contradict Trump's public statements on his ongoing negotiations for a Trump Tower Moscow.

This also from the sentencing memo:

"The defendant also provided information about attempts by other Russian nationals to reach the campaign. For example, in or around November 2015, Cohen received the contact information for, and spoke with, a Russian national who claimed to be a “trusted person” in the Russian Federation who could offer the campaign “political synergy” and “synergy on a government level.” The defendant recalled that this person repeatedly proposed a meeting between [Trump] and the President of Russia. The person told Cohen that such a meeting could have a “phenomenal” impact “not only in political but in a business dimension as well,” referring to the Moscow Project, because there is “no bigger warranty in any project than consent of [Putin].” Cohen, however, did not follow up on this invitation."

Meanwhile, the dossier stated:

"[A] Kremlin insider highlighted the importance of Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump’s lawyer, Michael Cohen, in the ongoing secret liaison relationship between the New York tycoon’s campaign and the Russian leadership. Cohen’s role had grown following the departure of Paul Manafort as Trump’s campaign manager in August 2016. Prior to that Manafort had led for the Trump side.”

…

According to the Kremlin insider, Cohen now was heavily engaged in a cover up and damage limitation operation in the attempt to prevent the full details of Trump’s relationship with Russia being exposed."
This seems accurate too, based on Cohen's subsequent testimony.

Also from the dossier:

"Speaking in confidence to a compatriot in late July 2016, Source E, an ethnic Russian close associate of Republican US presidential candidate Donald Trump, admitted that there was a well-developed conspiracy of co-operation between them and the Russian leadership. This was managed on the Trump side by the Republican candidate’s campaign manager, Paul Manafort, who was using foreign policy advisor, Carter Page, and others as intermediaries."

and:

[Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych] “confided in Putin that he did authorize and order substantial kick-back payments to Manafort as alleged but sought to reassure him that there was no documentary trail left behind which could provide clear evidence of this.”

Again, this has been corroborated now in admissions by Paul Manafort.

The dossier also discussed efforts by Manafort and Kilimnik to build support in the US to reduce sanctions on Russia. We now know from Flynn's guilty pleas about lying over his discussions with Russian Ambassador Kislyak to reduce sanctions, that those efforts were indeed taking place.

----

In summary, as a raw intelligence document, the Steele Dossier was remarkable in how detailed it was about connections between Russia and the Trump team, and how many of those allegations have either been corroborated, or not disproved, based on what we know to this point. Of course Mueller know much more than we do, so we may well find more aspects of the dossier are corroborated (there is already more than I've detailed above).

To answer your specific question, there has been lots of "gotcha."

Hang in there BK. The current political class is not entirely rotten. Your broad brush paint job does a disservice to a group of veterans. These gents and ladies won election to congress, have bipartisan country first ideals and have signed on to caucus together. Look them up. They could use your support to un-convince the LR ( and yourself) that all national politicians suck. But please feel free to keep jabbing at the duplicitous lot of other scumbags as they are led down river by the Mr. Orange Rot.

Yet none of those allegations (not proven, and provided by an overtly biased source), were proven in more than 2 years of hearings. The dossier was a hatchet job and nothing more specifically designed to attack the Trump administration if won the election. The same people who rigged the primaries against Bernie then set up a way to attack another candidate in the open election. The fact that people cannot see the system of corruption is mind boggling to me.
