Here's one long time rider's recent experience.
Rectal nerve pain is something that I wouldn't wish on my worst adversary. A huge problem that I had with it was the amount of time it took to figure out what was really wrong with me.
Have had hemorrhoids in the past. Maybe from sitting, driving, cycling, dehydration and straining. You probably have your cures. Yet, the most interesting cure was given to me in Colombia S.A. Bicboparube and a seed to carry in my pocket. When I went to the pharmacy, I found out that Bicboparube was Vicks vaporub. Kind of warm; yet the seed and Vicks worked.
Then an anal tear happened. There was fissure that was bleeding. Mistook the fissure for a broken hemorrhoid which delayed the healing process because I was trying to cure the wrong thing.
Then I had horrible rectal nerve pain which I mistook as a combination of hemorrhoids/fissures. Tried all kinds of topical relief. None worked well for long and the symptoms got worse. Taking a dump was bad. Two dumps a day - horrendous. Three dumps a day and the rest of the day was in bed incapacitated. Pain like I couldn't fall asleep pain until exhausted.
Finally figured out that all the itching and burning was rectal nerve pain. Considered surgery; but, a long recovery period with so-so results did not impress me.
Went to Dr. Google and came across the Listen To Your Gut site. There were people on the site who had what I had and used oil of oregano (with added olive oil so as not to overheat their anus) who had been cured.
So if you have a persistent/reoccurring itch or burning pain, it could be nerve pain. If your topical cures are not working, consider that it could be your rectal nerve.
Indoor Triathlete - I thought I was right, until I realized I was wrong.
